affiliate marketing - make money online

Making passive income while you sleep is the dream for many of us. And, according to all the hype on social media, this is 'easy' to accomplish! Make an easy $10000 a month, they shout! Sign up for my (expensive) course to find out how!

However, let's be realistic. Starting any business requires dedication, preparation, research, planning, and a big dose of patience and endurance! If you want to create something worthwhile, you must be in it for the long run!

So, having said that, let's examine some of the steps to take to get going as an affiliate marketer.

Step 1 - do your research on the various web companies offering affiliate programs and decide what you would like to promote. If you already have a blog or website, select products that tie in with your themes. If you have a hobby or interest, select products that you feel comfortable promoting.

If you would like to start a blog, I suggest using Hostinger to create a great-looking blog (which I used for this site). It is really affordable to start up, uses AI to create the various pages, and is easy to maintain. Plus, you get an email mailbox included in the deal. Step 2 - Sign up as an affiliate with those companies that have the product ranges you wish to promote, such as:

Once you get accepted, you will be able to log in, and from your affiliate dashboard, you will be able view all the products on offer. From your dashboard, you can then also add your personal details and banking information for your potential sales.

Step 3 - Take the time to carefully select and examine the product affiliate pages and sales pages to make sure you like what you are promoting, and can see a use for it. From the product affiliate page, you will get your affiliate link plus all the information and graphics needed to promote it.

Step 4 - Copy and share this link wherever you can! If you do not have a web page or blog already set up to promote your selected product, you can post it to your social media platforms. One of the easiest ones to use is Pinterest. You can easily set up a business account and then create a pin to tag the product you have selected with the link copied from the affiliate page.

Step 5 - Have fun creating designs to show off your product, using the free option of the fabulous design tool, Canva, or simply use the images and text from the product affiliate pages.

Use Grok to create some fun videos or ChatGPT to create great content or images.

Step 6 - This is the fun part! Monitor your posts on social media to see if you are getting views or clicks on your links.

A quick transparency note here! When I recommend a tool or resource, sometimes I use an affiliate link. That means I may earn a commission if you decide to use it.

I only recommend things that:

  • I would use

  • I would trust

  • Or I genuinely believe would help in a specific situation

I’d rather recommend fewer things and keep trust, than promote anything and lose it.

Affiliate links also make it possible to share free content without turning everything into a paid product, such as online courses from great institutions. This is a great way to draw potential customers to your blog.
